Xstrata Coal is committed to the highest standards of environmental management and performance.  Our management practices proactively prevent risks and a comprehensive environmental monitoring program will be implemented to gather baseline data on air quality, ambient noise and water quality.  If the BICET project is developed, Xstrata Coal will continue monitoring and use this information to ensure the operation meets world’s best-practice environmental standards.

Xstrata Coal implements a combined health, safety, environment and community management system in line with Xstrata’s 17 Sustainable Development Management Standards.

These standards have also been cross mapped with the Minerals Council of Australia Enduring Value Principles for sustainable development.
